About

My name is Victor Harris.  I am the solo pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Carol Stream, IL (www.heritagepresby.org).   Well, I’m the solo, ordained & salaried pastor.  This blog is meant to help me and the members and friends of Heritage Presbyterian Church engage in more regular dialogue.

Even still, others will no doubt find their way here from time to time.  I want to say to such people, first, welcome.  I also want to offer you a bit of context.

Like I said, my name is Victor.  I was born in 1982.  I am between 4’6″ and 7’1″ and I weigh between 95 and 600 pounds.

The two things people most often say to me are, “hey, that’s mine!”, and “I think you are scaring the children.”  The two questions I am most often asked are, “Are you Ryan Gosling?”, and “Excuse me, sir, why are you in my pool?”  I get the Ryan Gosling question mostly when I am “skins” in basketball.  That’s why I always try to be “shirts”… it is just easier that way.

This is what I looked like as a little boy:

(I grew into my head… I think.)

I am super super fast:

This is my wife, Jenn (she is really pretty!):

Whenever I’m driving and I see a clown in the car next to me, I always take a picture (so far this has only happened once):

Selfiesticks scare me:

This is not me, but I really wish it was:

I am friends with Dan:

And also Art, who, by the way, loves it when I take pictures of him that he doesn’t know about:

Art is wearing a tuxedo because he is at his daughter’s wedding.

This is a picture of the gift that I took to that wedding – it is the unwrapped one in the top right.  Do you see it.  It is the one with the “napkin note” taped to it.

Slouka Wedding Gift

The “napkin note” probably said something along these lines: “Hello.  Sorry I did not wrap this.  I also apologize that I do not have a formal card.  Please don’t tell my wife.  Congratulations!  Love, Victor.”  Call me old-fashioned, but I think etiquette still matters.

This next part is gonna seem really random, but just trust me.

Recently, I realized something.  The cemetery is a great place to find hope.  Indeed, it may be the best place.  Most overflow with hope… precisely because they overflow with truth.

These pictures bear witness to what both this blog and I myself (I pray) are “about”.

So I’ll just leave it at that.

  1. I have also had trouble commenting, and have sent a few. Think the blog is a good idea, but not sure how comments get posted. Trying again.

  2. Victor, great blog! I know you have many action items on your plate. Hope you have time to keep this on on your actin item list. I was poking around this Sunday morning after our visit in the hospital and found many touching and inspirational words. Wanted you to know it is worth the time. You are a great writer as well as a messenger of Gods word. You are not fast, but you are funny. We at Heritage are blessed to have you as our Shepherd.
